The project’s goal was to create a realistic Atari CX2600 gaming console and promotional video that would generate consumer interest and sales.
To begin this project, I needed to understand the feel of the console and learn new techniques in illustrator to replicate its aesthetic in the wood texture. My professor at Fanshawe College guided me through this learning process in the classroom. Capturing the proper flow of the bumps on the console’s center and placing shadows correctly took a great deal of time to get right. Once I finished designing the console, I considered what iconic Atari game to use as a background for the poster. Donkey Kong was the perfect choice. After adding the console’s name, model, and key details to highlight certain buttons, the project was complete. Through this experience, I learned how to create a realistic console rendering and market it to gaming enthusiasts.
